Mother’s Day Gift Guide!

The Covid-19 virus has wreaked havoc on all of our plans this year, and Mother’s Day is no exception. For most of us, this May 10, celebrating mom won’t be what it was last year—kitchen tables and backyards won’t fill up, calls will replace family reunions, and for the more ambitious among us, Zoom brunches will take the place of long-favored restaurant traditions. The big day is just around the corner, and we’ve rounded up some of our favorite products for last-minute gift ideas.

So, when it comes to those gifts, why not try to give her what she’s missing the most? Is it a trip to the salon? A visit to her favorite museum? Maybe it’s just a little bit of solitude to recharge, or hearing from her grandkids more often. No matter her quarantine craving, show your mom how much you love her (and how well you listen) by giving her a gift she’s really longing for on this far-from-ordinary day.

If She’s Missing Her “Me” Time

Send her local (Long Island) flowers by Hometown Flower Co.— order by May 5, or an inspirational canvas of blooms courtesy of Carolyn Gavin.

Help her stay both comfortable and chic head-to-toe with an easy satin kimono in a perfect-for-spring floral which will also keep her isolating in high fashion. Or simply give her a reason to step into an oasis with a Mother’s Day kit from David’s Tea, or if she’s feeling fancy this bath time wine holder and terrarium candle are the perfect pair for setting the mood in the bath, then spray a little mist for that peak aroma thing. #issavibe

Unless all she really needs is a new nap time mask and pillow! In pure silk of course. Only the best for Mom. ; )

If She’s Missing Her Visits to the Salon and Spa

With all that sanitizing, mom’s hands are surely in need of a little extra love. Make washing and moisturizing a more refreshing experience with a Sexy Peel soap from Lush (recharge your sex appeal when you’re feeling sluggish) and a rich shimmery coco massage body butter.

Mom can transition from day to night with a self-love facial ritual kit by Herbivore. #welovethis

A trip to the hair salon is likely the most missed of all beauty treatments she’s forced to forgo. It will be longed for a little bit less if an oil-infused wet brush—the hairbrush to rule them all—or a glamorous blush pink silk turban by Slip were to make it into her personal arsenal.

If She’s Missing Her Weekend Brunch Date

It’s hard to match the pleasure of a long, lazy brunch at a favorite restaurant, but here’s to trying with a classic picnic basket available in 2 colors. Vino more her thing? A local selection from Pindar Vineyards will do the trick. Buy six and get free shipping! #yourewelcome

Serve her a pampered breakfast-in-bed on a bamboo tray (its currently on sale). Inside whatever clever or sentimental card you’ve picked out, slip a gift certificate from Dining Bonds, which is good for future use at a beloved restaurant while also helping it stay afloat for now. We really love this initiative in support of local businesses! Add a little spice with this chic guava cutting board (it is soo cute) and complete the look with this heart serving spoon. You can’t go wrong.

And no Mother’s Day brunch is complete without a celebratory cocktail. Raise a mimosa toast in a two of a kind pop/fizz stemless glass pair from Kate Spade. If you’ve bought a bottle of champagne as good as the Carte d’Or from Drappier, you might want to hold the OJ.

If She’s Missing Her Museum Trips

A little art-themed home decor will never steer you wrong. Case in point?  The iconic screen print artwork turned Warhol Banana Bookends from Brooklyn Museum.

But there’s nothing like getting outside and painting your own masterpiece. Equip her with all the necessary tools—a classic easel, brushes, and paint from Blick—that she needs to get started.

Or get her the best teacher: Famed photographer Annie Leibovitz can take mom through the ins and outs of capturing a portrait or still life via her new online MasterClass.

If She’s Missing Her Gym Time

For the mom that has everything except her favorite workout, consider this instructional cork yoga mat to help her find her balance — they’re over the top but very much so functional. If she prefers resistance training, a colorful set of bands from Gym Rats are worth their weight in sweat. Our favorite workout app (she’s also local) is by Giuliana Ava — her Home Grown Gains workout is life.

Post workouts are never complete without a CBD workout recovery spray. It’s a plant-based restorative body spray that gets right to work on your stressed muscles and stiff limbs. So grab a cute water bottle for her that also tracks her intake. We need her hydrated people. :)

& if she needs an outfit we are still in love with Old Navy leggings. They are worth every penny.

If She’s Just Missing Her (Grand) Kids

Help her keep the little ones close to her heart with a digital smart frame from Nixplay, or, quite literally, with a sparkling heart-shaped floating locket ring from Pandora that features a modern way to carry your favorite petites. Compliment her ring with a personalized necklace from Blushes and Gold on Etsy.

If your heart is set on sending flowers, consider a DIY tutorial to make your own pressed flower cards! Especially if you’ve already got flowers blooming from your garden.
